The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune has begun to take strict action against illegal driving schools in Pune.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, a Pune RTO official, requesting anonymity, said “The RTO has issued orders last week to identify & take relevant action against driving schools which are operating illegally in Pune. Accordingly, the RTO has started taking action against such driving schools. This will continue until all illegal driving schools are shut down in Pune.”

As per further information, following the State Transport Department’s Government Resolutions (GR) directive for strict action against illegal driving schools, the Pune regional transport office (RTO) issued an order for strict action against illegal driving schools operating in the city. The state transport ministry received multiple complaints regarding illegal driving schools operating in various parts of the city, which led to the decision.

A licensed driving school operator said that the authorized driving school operators abide by all regulations that are released by the RTO. However, the operators of illegal driving schools flout the law, maintain low fees, and put citizens’ lives in jeopardy by providing inadequate and substandard training.

Maharashtra Transport Commissioner said that it has been noted that vehicles, other than those vehicles registered by licensed driving schools, are being used for driving practice. Hence, all districts’ illegal driving schools must be investigated, severe measures must be implemented, and a compliance report must be submitted to the transport department.
