Sandeep Singh Gill Takes Charge as New Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural
Pune – Sandeep Singh Gill, who was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 1, Pune City, has officially been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Pune Rural.
Gill’s appointment comes following a long-standing transfer order issued in September last year. At that time, he was designated to replace Pankaj Deshmukh as SP, Pune Rural. However, Deshmukh had challenged his transfer before the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) and secured a stay, resulting in Gill continuing in his role as DCP Zone 1.
Now, with the Maharashtra Home Department issuing a fresh transfer order on Friday, Deshmukh has been reassigned as Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune City. He is expected to assume his new role soon.
Following this development, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar relieved Gill from his DCP duties on Saturday, enabling him to formally take over as SP, Pune Rural.
This reshuffle is part of a broader realignment of senior police officials across Maharashtra and is expected to bring renewed focus to law enforcement operations in the Pune Rural region.
