Savitribai Phule Pune University Directs Colleges To Implement Marathi Language Programs
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has instructed its affiliated colleges and institutions to implement the Marathi Language Policy and the Maharashtra Official Language Act. This move aims to promote the use of Marathi language in official communications and transactions.
The directive is part of the Maharashtra State Language Act, which mandates the use of Marathi in all government offices, ministries, and departments. The university has asked its affiliated colleges to take necessary measures to implement the policy at their respective levels.
The Marathi language holds significant cultural importance in Maharashtra, with over 96 million speakers, making it the fourth most spoken language in India. The language has a rich literary history, with notable works such as “Dnyaneshwari” and “Bhavartha Ramayan”.
By implementing this policy, SPPU aims to preserve and promote the Marathi language, ensuring its continued relevance in modern times.
