Schools Along Cycling Route in Pimpri-Chinchwad to Remain Closed on January 20 for Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026
Pune Schools to Remain Shut on January 23 as Bajaj Pune Grand Tour Stage 4 Brings Traffic Curbs
Pune, January 18: In view of the Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026, an international cycling competition, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal area will observe a holiday for all government and private schools located along the race route on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The orders were issued by District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jitendra Dudi.
The UCI-recognised international cycling event, Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, is being jointly organised by the Pune District Administration, Bajaj, and the Cycling Federation of India.
The prestigious tournament will be held from January 19 to January 23, 2026, in accordance with international standards laid down by the Cycling Federation of India and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
As per the official schedule, the first stage of the competition will be conducted on January 20. The race will commence from T.C.L. Circle in Hinjawadi Phase 3 and pass through several key locations including TCS Circle, Megapolis Circle, Symphony Society, Bapuji Buva Temple, and areas within Pune rural limits.
The route will then re-enter Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate limits via Done Phata and proceed through Rohidas Maruti Sawale Chowk, Aadle Budruk, Bebadohal, Chandkhed, Kasarsai, Nere, Marunji, Laxmi Chowk, Bhumkar Chowk, Dange Chowk, and Valhekarwadi.
The race will conclude near Dr D. Y. Patil College, Akurdi, after passing Aditya Birla Hospital and major junctions in Ravet and Walhekarwadi.
The school holiday has been declared to ensure smooth conduct of the event and to avoid inconvenience due to traffic restrictions along the cycling route.
