The footpath outside Salunke Vihar society is filled with scrap materials thus leaving no space for pedestrians. There is no space for pedestrians, especially senior citizens who are forced to walk on the road, the resident said.

Another resident of Maestros apartment also complained that the shops on the footpaths have always been a cause of concern. They are using up the footpath made for the safety of citizens, the resident lamented.

Yet another resident from Salunke Vihar informed that SalunkeVihar road with good footpaths was constructed by PMC as a role model for other wards.

“I have noticed that footpath from our society Salunke vihar gate to Green Acre society and temple has been encroached. It now has shops and garbage dumps. We have to walk on road to go to temple. We want our footpaths back,” said the resident, on condition of anonymity.

The authorities from Pune Municipal Corporation remained unavailable for any comment, on the issue.

The footpath outside Salunke Vihar has vegetable and fruit vendors, scrap seller, a pan stall, etc which occupies most of the place alongwith a bus shelter. Residents are demanding that the footpath must be kept free of encroachments.
