Shivaji nagar records 81 mm rain

Pune city on October 17 experienced unusual rainfall. Several areas across the city saw intense spell of rains in a short span. City areas like Shaniwarwada, Shankar Nagar, Kondhwa, Budhwar Peth, Deccan Gymkhana, Bibvewadi, Undri, saw intense spell which led to severe accumulation of water.

The rains became intense in the evening around 6 PM on October 17 and continued till late night on October 18.

Indian Meteorological Department’s official informed that rain recorded at at Shivajinagar at 23.30hrs IST was heavy rain in Shivajinagar 81 mm. It was huge Cumulonimbus cell developed in & around Pune – Chinchwad cities & over adjacent areas of district so the strength is is much tonight.

The weather department informed that cloud mass associated with Cumulonimbus cloud (i.e thundery cloud) for a long time over in & around city it was developing. Hence, moderate to intense spell continued. Cloud depth is around 11 km.
