Shocking Accident in Pune : Dumper hits biker on Handewadi Road, 1 dead

On 8 February (Thursday) morning, a terrible accident of a dumper & two-wheeler took place near Ganga Village Society, Handewadi Road, Hadapsar where the biker died on the spot.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, an eye witness to the incident said, “This accident happened at 11:10 am on Thursday. I was commuting near the area where the accident happened. A youth was riding on a Pulsar motorcycle on Handewadi Road. At the same time, a dumper was passing through the road. The youth tried to overtake the dumper but he seems to have lost control of the motorcycle &, as he couldn’t overtake the dumper, he seemingly came under the backside tire of the dumper & died on the spot. The nearby people were saying that it was the mistake of the youth as he tried to overtake the dumper in a casual manner. Immediately, the police came & took the body of the youth to a hospital in an ambulance.”

Balaji Salunkhe, Assistant Police Inspector, Handewadi Traffic Division, said “The accident took place when the biker was travelling from Hadapsar to Handewadi today morning. While the motorcycle rider was near Chintamani Nagar, an auto rickshaw suddenly crossed him. Hence, he had to stop immediately. A dumper coming from behind couldn’t stop and hit the biker. Unfortunately the biker died on the spot as he suffered head injuries. Further investigation in the accident is undergoing.”
