In a violent altercation that took place between a friend refusing to give up mobile phone to the accused, tensions between them grew on Monday afternoon, February 5, in Kalewadi. One friend used a Koyta (sickle) to stab the other during the altercation.
The young woman who was the victim of the altercation quickly reported the incident to the police, which resulted in the registration of a case at the Wakad police station.
According to police investigations, the victim was at her mother-in-law’s house talking on the phone when the accused came into her home. When the accused tried to take the phone from the victim, she resisted, which infuriated him.
The victim suffered severe injuries after the accused allegedly stabbed her in the neck with a Koyta, in a fit of rage. Furthermore, the victim’s sister was allegedly stabbed in the cheek by the accused with the same weapon when she stepped in to defend her.
The accused has been charged with attempted murder by the Wakad police, who are currently conducting further investigation.
