Shocking !!! Rahatani resident duped of Rs 16 lakh in online fraud 

A 35-year-old Rahatani resident has been defrauded of a sizeable sum of money totaling Rs 16 lakh 11 thousand 80. The fraudulent activity happened from October 29, 2023 to February 4, 2024.

The victim claimed that he was contacted by an unknown WhatsApp number and that he got a message inviting him to like and subscribe to a particular YouTube channel by clicking on a given link. The lure relied on a deceptive financial reward scheme, offering Rs 150 for the first comment and Rs 50 for each additional comment. The overall goal was to receive 24 comments and likes every day, with the promise of earning between Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 4,000 every day.

As their conversation went on, the anonymous person convinced him to join a Telegram group. He was further persuaded to pay the scammer within the Telegram group based on various goals that were set.

Ultimately, the victim gave up an astonishing Rs 16,11,080 after becoming a victim of the scam. He reported the incident to the Wakad Police Station right away, which resulted in the filing of a case against the accused.

Wakad Police have opened an investigation to find the culprit and learn more about the fraudulent operation’s workings.
