Street robbers giving sleepless nights to Balewadi residents

Announcements were made on loudspeakers asking senior citizens to be careful with their belongings like wallets, gadgets and mobile phones.

With the menace of robbers at the weekly markets increasing in Balewadi, United Balewadi Residents association federation conducted an awareness campaign, under the guidance of Chaturshrungi Police Station, on January 5th at Ashtavinayak chowk.

In the campaign, posters and flyers were distributed. Announcements were made on loudspeakers asking senior citizens to be careful with their belongings like wallets, gadgets and mobile phones.

An appeal was also made to the street vendors to be vigilant and help in protecting the citizens from the robbers.

“It is important to create awareness about regular thefts at the weekly market. We have been talking to the police officers and we expect some effective patrolling at the theft-prone spots,” Amey Jagtap, a resident of Balewadi and a member of the United Balewadi Residents federation.

Chaturshrungi police officer API Rajkumar Kendre promised to not only find the robbers as soon as possible but also take initiatives to prevent it in the future.
