Bollywood actor and reality TV personality Khushi Mukherjee has triggered a fresh social media storm after claiming that India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav used to message her frequently in the past. Her remarks, made during a recent interaction, have gone viral, drawing sharp reactions from cricket fans and online commentators alike.
Mukherjee, who rose to wider recognition through her appearance on MTV Splitsvilla, stated that while Suryakumar Yadav had been in touch with her regularly, there was no romantic relationship between them. She did not provide further details about the nature or timing of the alleged conversations, but her comments were enough to set off intense speculation and debate online.
Soon after her remarks surfaced, social media platforms were flooded with mixed reactions. While some users questioned the relevance of the claim, others criticised Mukherjee, accusing her of making a “random” comment to gain attention by linking her name with one of India’s most prominent white-ball cricketers. Amid the online chatter, Suryakumar and his wife were recently seen offering prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, on the occasion of Vaikuntha Ekadashi. The couple participated in temple rituals, passed through the Vaikuntha Dwaram, and received blessings from the priests at the Ranganayakulavari Mandapam. Temple authorities facilitated their darshan, and the visit was noted for its simplicity and spiritual focus.
The timing of the controversy is significant, as Suryakumar Yadav has been under scrutiny for his recent form in T20I cricket. His latest assignment saw him lead India to a 3–1 series victory against South Africa, reaffirming his leadership credentials. He is next set to captain the side in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand in January 2026, a key preparatory phase ahead of the T20 World Cup scheduled to begin on February 7.
India will enter the tournament as defending champions, having lifted the T20 World Cup in 2024 after defeating South Africa in the final at Barbados.
Khushi Mukherjee, meanwhile, has remained a familiar face across entertainment platforms. She made her acting debut in the Tamil film Anjal Thurai in 2013 and later worked in Telugu and Hindi projects.
