Swiggy Dad: Delivering Food, Delivering Love
While there are a number of adjectives describing the love of mother when it comes to the love of father you can hardly think of any one adjective. And this is what makes Pankaj’s story even more compelling. Pankaj is a swiggy delivery agent who lost his wife, but he didn’t lose himself, he couldn’t. He had to take care of his two year old, all on his own.
This story of resilience and love of father was brought to light by a LinkedIn post from Gurgaon-based CEO Mayank Agarwal, and has since touched hearts across the internet.
When Mayank ordered food, he requested delivery to his floor. While giving Pankaj instructions, though, Mayank heard a child’s voice, so he asked ‘Is there a child with you? ‘Pankaj answered, ‘Yes.’ When Mayank went downstairs he was surprised by seeing his 2 year old on his bike.
Pankaj had lost his wife during childbirth and since his older son has coaching classes he has no option but to keep her with himself, even during work hours. His little girl is Tun Tun.
As agarwal describes further Pankaj has no other option than to carry his toddler along on his job. Without childcare or any safety net, he faces the situation with only resilience and the strength of his fatherly love. He also shared the experience of some customers who had told Pankaj to “Sit at home if you can’t manage—having a toddler is your problem,” a sentiment that is deeply troubling about the direction of society. Despite these challenges, Pankaj reportedly offered only a quiet smile.
While this encounter served as a powerful reminder for Agarwal about the often-unseen struggles many individuals face daily. It shows a different side of fatherly love altogether. While hoping that Swiggy would recognize Pankaj’s situation and find a way to provide support.
