The T20 Mumbai League, making a highly anticipated return after a six-year break, has been rescheduled to run from June 4 to June 10, a shift prompted by the Indian Premier League’s temporary suspension. Originally planned for May 26 to June 8, the tournament will now feature a tight seven-day schedule packed with doubleheaders daily, delivering fast-paced cricket action in a condensed format.

According to sources within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), the league will now take place across two venues. While Wankhede Stadium remains a confirmed location, the second venue is yet to be finalized and could be one among the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, MCA Ground in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), or Brabourne Stadium at the Cricket Club of India (CCI).

“The tournament will now span two stadiums, with two matches taking place at both locations every day,” an MCA official said. “We’ve compressed the schedule into a high-energy week to maintain excitement and ensure maximum participation and viewership.”

The league will see eight franchises battling it out for the title. These teams were finalized during the player auction held on May 7, which drew significant attention as the city geared up for the return of its premier domestic T20 event.

Adding weight to the league’s comeback are some notable names in the coaching arena. Former India fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni will take charge as mentor and head coach of Eagle Thane Strikers, bringing his experience and local knowledge to the team. Meanwhile, Dinesh Lad, the acclaimed Dronacharya Award-winning coach who mentored stars like Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, joins Triumph Knights as their Chief Team Guide, expected to offer strategic direction and player development insights.

The rescheduled T20 Mumbai League comes at a time when the IPL is set to resume on May 17, following a brief pause due to geopolitical tensions. With international fixtures on the horizon for Team India, the league offers a golden opportunity for up-and-coming players to showcase their talent on a prominent stage.
