T20 World Cup 2026: Full Schedule To Be Announced Soon, India And Sri Lanka Set To Co-Host Mega Event
Twenty teams, four groups and two host nations prepare for one of the most anticipated T20 World Cups.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is gearing up for a major announcement as the complete tournament schedule is expected to be released today. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the month-long event, which will be played from February 7 to March 8. A total of 20 teams have already qualified and will be placed into four groups of five.

India will host matches across five major centres — Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Ahmedabad — while Sri Lanka will stage games in Colombo and Kandy. The final is planned at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, if Pakistan reaches the title clash, the final will shift to Colombo, as the team is not expected to travel to India.
With the official schedule awaited, early indications suggest India will open their campaign on home soil and later travel to Sri Lanka for the high-voltage India–Pakistan encounter. Once confirmed, the schedule will outline the complete match list, venues, and group-stage timelines.
The provisional grouping places India in Group 1, alongside Pakistan, USA, Namibia and Netherlands. Group 2 includes Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman. England, West Indies, Italy, Bangladesh and Nepal form Group 3, while Group 4 brings together South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE and Canada. These groups ensure a competitive spread across regions, blending established cricketing nations with rising teams.

All 20 participating teams have secured their spots through direct qualification or regional pathways. The tournament format will begin with the group stage, followed by the Super Eight, semifinals and final. Host nations India and Sri Lanka are expected to share the workload of major fixtures, making this one of the largest joint T20 World Cups to date.
India enters the tournament with strong historical credentials, having won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and again in 2024. West Indies and England also have two titles each, while Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia have won once. The upcoming edition is expected to draw massive viewership, especially with matches spread across iconic venues and the India–Pakistan clash likely to be held in Colombo.
Rohit Sharma, the former India captain, is set to take centre stage today as the World Cup schedule is finally unveiled. India has had only four World Cup-winning captains in more than a century, and with Rohit among that elite group, his presence alone ensures the occasion will be worth every minute.
