Techie Named in Maharashtra Doctor’s Suicide Note Arrested from Pune
Pune, October 25, 2025: Police have arrested Prashant Bankar, a software engineer named in the suicide note of a 28-year-old woman doctor from Satara district, Maharashtra.
The arrest was made in Pune by a team from the Phaltan Police.
According to officials, the doctor, originally from Beed district and posted at a government hospital in Phaltan, was found hanging in a hotel room on Thursday night. In a distressing revelation, she had written a suicide note on her palm, naming sub-inspector Gopal Badane and Prashant Bankar.
The note accused Badane of repeatedly raping her and Bankar of subjecting her to mental harassment. Following the complaint, the police registered a case of rape and abetment to suicide against both men.
“Prashant Bankar has been arrested and brought to Phaltan for further investigation,” said a police official. Preliminary reports suggest that Bankar is the son of the landlord of the house where the doctor was residing.
Police also revealed that the doctor had spoken to Bankar over the phone shortly before taking her life.
Sub-inspector Gopal Badane has been suspended from duty pending investigation, officials confirmed.
