A heart-pounding video has surfaced showing a wild elephant charging directly at two men who allegedly stepped out of their vehicle to take photos near Muthanga in Kerala’s Wayanad.
The incident, captured by an Instagram user named Savad, highlights the intensity of the encounter as the elephant aggressively pursued the men, causing panic in the onlookers.
The incident occurred on Monday, and the video, shared by the Instagram handle “wayanadgram,” serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers of approaching wild animals in their natural habitat.Â
The person sharing the video emphasized the importance of adhering to safety rules in forest areas and advised against exiting vehicles.
The footage reveals the alarming moment when the elephant aggressively pursued the two men, causing one of them to trip and fall. The elephant even delivered a kick to the fallen man. The intense encounter continued until a passing truck distracted the powerful animal, allowing the men to escape.
This is not an isolated incident, as such encounters have been reported in the region before. In June last year, a video showed a man being chased by an elephant inside the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. Authorities took swift action against the individual, who was disturbing the elephant, imposing a fine of Rs 4,000.
This recent incident underscores the need for strict adherence to guidelines when traversing wildlife habitats, emphasizing the importance of respecting the animals’ space to ensure both human and animal safety.
