Thief Leaves Funny Lipstick Note After Burglary: “If You Keep Liquor, Keep Chips Too”
After breaking into a government engineer’s house, the thief not only stole valuables but also left behind handwritten advice that left police and residents stunned.
A bizarre burglary in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer has gone viral after the thief, instead of fleeing quietly, left behind a series of handwritten messages on the walls using lipstick. The incident took place in the IGNP Colony, where the government residence of Assistant Engineer Sohan Jangid was targeted late on Sunday night.
According to officials, Jangid was out of town at the time, and the house was locked. The thief broke open the lock and made away with several valuables, including a laptop, television, expensive perfumes, and clothes. However, what has drawn widespread attention is what happened after the theft.
Instead of leaving immediately, the intruder used lipstick found inside the house to write messages on the walls. One of the notes read, “If you keep liquor in the house, keep chips too.” The message suggested that the thief had consumed alcohol during the burglary and found the lack of snacks disappointing.
Another message mocked the system and discouraged legal action. “If you complain at the police station, it will be a waste of time. Don’t file a report. You forget me and I will forget you,” the note said.
The thief also introduced himself in the messages as “Bihari Babu” and added an emotional explanation for the crime. He claimed that he had stolen for the first time due to compulsion, mentioned that he had eaten food kept in the house, and even ended the message with a polite “thank you.”
Police officials who inspected the scene said the messages indicated that the thief spent a considerable amount of time inside the house. While the incident has sparked laughter and curiosity on social media, authorities have taken it seriously and launched an investigation to identify and trace the suspect.
Residents of the area described the incident as unusual and said the lipstick-written notes were unlike anything they had seen before. The Jaisalmer police said efforts are underway to track the accused using available clues and local intelligence.
The incident has since become a talking point across the city, blending humour with concern over security lapses in residential colonies.
