Pune Traffic Police Releases Navratri 2023 Traffic Advisory to Ensure Smooth Celebrations

Pune, India – As the devout in Pune gear up for the nine-day Navratri festival, the Pune Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory aimed at reducing potential congestion during the festivities.

This advisory, released on October 14, 2023, provides crucial information about route diversions and road closures to make navigating the city more manageable during this significant religious event.

Navratri, which spans from October 15 to October 24, is a revered occasion in Pune, drawing devotees from all corners of the city. To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and ensure that the celebrations remain hassle-free, several traffic alterations have been introduced. These changes are expected to help manage the expected surge in vehicular movement during this period.

Here are the key route diversions and road closures detailed in the advisory :

  1. Appa Balwant Chowk: The road leading to Appa Balwant Chowk from Budhwar Chowk will be closed to regular traffic. Instead, a one-way traffic flow will be established from Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk. An alternate route is accessible via Ama Chowk and Shivaji Road.
  2. Bhavani Mata Temple: A segment of Mahatma Phule Road, specifically the stretch between Ramoshi Gate Chowk and Juna Motor Stand in front of Bhawani Mata Mandira, will be closed to all vehicle types except essential service vehicles. Additionally, no-parking zones will be enforced on Mahatma Phule Road. Motorists can utilize alternative routes to reach their destinations.
  3. Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple: Access to Tambadi Jogeshwari Road between Ganapati Chowk and Tambadi Jogeshwari Mandir on Lakshmi Road will be restricted. All types of vehicles will be barred from Sakal Press to Jogeshwari Temple, except for essential service vehicles. An alternative route can be taken via Sevasdan Chowk and Bajirao Road.
  4. Chathushringi Mata Mandir: To address potential traffic congestion on Senapati Bapat Road due to the influx of temple-goers, traffic traveling from Journalist Nagar Chowk to Senapati Bapat Road Junction will be diverted on a one-way basis from Shivaji Housing Chowk to Senapati Bapat Road.
  5. In case of road congestion, vehicles heading to the temple will be redirected to Vetalbaba Chowk via Deep Bangla Chowk and Shivaji Housing Chowk.

In light of these traffic diversions and closures, motorists and citizens are strongly encouraged to park their vehicles in designated areas specified in the advisory to prevent any inconvenience. Furthermore, it’s important to note that strict no-parking regulations will be enforced in areas around Tambadi Jogeshwari Mata Mandir, Ashtabhuja Devi Mandir, and other relevant locations.

By adhering to these guidelines and staying informed, residents and visitors can look forward to a joyous and congestion-free Navratri celebration in Pune.
