Chaturshringi police station takes steps to handle traffic congestion

Pune: With traffic congestion becoming the biggest issue in the areas of Aundh, Baner and Pashan, Chaturshringi Police station will be appointing traffic wardens.

The decision was taken after the Chaturshringi police station officials had a meeting with 30 representatives of various federations on July 17.
Now, a group of representatives and police officials will be oversee the localities to solve the problems.

“We have started studying every area in Baner, Pashan and Balewadi and accordingly, required changes will be done to decongest the traffic. We will be placing barricades wherever required. Traffic wardens will be appointed to look after the areas,” said Balasaheb Koli, police inspector, traffic, from Chaturshringi police station.

Vaishali Patkar, president of Aundh Vikas Mandal, said “Atleast 30 people attended the meeting from small federations of respective areas (Baner-Balewadi-Pashan and Sus road). All of them came up with possible solutions to decongest the traffic chaos in their areas respectively.

Next meeting is expected after 15 days and the federations are planning to invite deputy commissioner of police traffic Rahul Shrirame for the meeting, for more inputs and guidance.

“There is a shortage of barricades and jammers. Chaturshringi Police Station has only two jammers right now so these should be increased. Federation members of various areas have also informed the police inspector about encroachments at footpaths,” said Patkar.

The work to decongest the traffic has already started and they have deployed a traffic warden at Mamta Chowk, Baner. Work of placing barricades has also been completed at Balaji Chowk, Baner.

Ramesh Rokde from Balewadi Residency Federation said, “Police inspector Koli has assured us that all the problems of the locality will be solved. As he is new to the area, he requires little time to access the spots.”
