Bapat said, “Since the number of passengers and trains are increasing significantly in the last few years, it is not possible to run new trains from Pune railway station. So, it is necessary to start trains from alternative stations like Hadapsar instead of Pune station. About 150 long-distance trains run from Pune Junction. If some of these trains use Hadapsar, the load on Pune Junction will be reduced.”

The Central Railway is moving some trains to Hadapsar to reduce congestion at Pune railway station, already. Currently, a special train runs from Hadapsar railway station to Hyderabad.
The railway station at Hadapsar has four platforms and one-foot overbridge for passengers.

People have complained regarding the non-availability of public transport facilities at the railway station and there is less parking space for passengers at the station.

“Parking lots should be provided and developed, since the roads leading to the station from the main road are narrow, the road leading to the station should be widened. In terms of administrative work, there should be a spacious station building and reservation centre building,” added Bapat.

At present, a waiting room has been set up for passengers at the Hadapsar station in a paper shed.
