Tragic Domestic Incident in Greater Noida West: Engineer Stabs Sister-in-Law, Jumps from 16th Floor
What began as a domestic disagreement in a high-rise apartment in Greater Noida West ended in a shocking tragedy on Tuesday evening. A software engineer allegedly injured his sister-in-law during an argument and later took his own life by jumping from the 16th floor, police said.
The incident unfolded at Paramount Emotions Society in the Bisrakh area. The man involved, 38-year-old Shatrughan Sinha, a native of Patna, Bihar, reportedly got into a heated argument with his wife and attempted to assault her. When his sister-in-law tried to intervene, he allegedly attacked her with a vegetable knife, injuring her hand. The altercation created fear and panic among other residents of the building.
Sinha’s wife immediately alerted the authorities. Before police could arrive, Sinha reportedly locked the apartment and stepped onto the balcony, from where he jumped from the 16th floor. He was rushed to Yatharth Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead during treatment. The sister-in-law, though injured, is reported to be out of danger.
Authorities have taken Sinha’s body into custody for post-mortem examination, and no suicide note has been recovered from the apartment so far.
Early investigations suggest that Sinha had been unemployed for the last six months and was under significant mental stress. Police also stated that he had consumed alcohol prior to the incident. Sources noted that domestic disputes between Sinha and his wife had been frequent.

Sinha had been married for nearly 11 years and is survived by his wife, a software engineer at an IT company, and their eight-year-old son.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Pawan Kumar said, “Initial investigations indicate that prolonged domestic issues, unemployment, and alcohol consumption played major roles in this unfortunate incident. We are questioning family members and carrying out all necessary legal procedures.”
