Tragic Incident in Indapur : Four Workers Trapped During Construction of Well

In Mhasobawadi, Indapur taluka, a heart-wrenching accident unfolded during the construction of a well, leaving four workers trapped under the debris. The incident occurred on Tuesday, around 9 pm, at Belwadi village. As the workers were constructing the well’s ring in the field, the wall suddenly collapsed, causing the ring to collapse and trapped them underneath. The work was on to construct a 80 feet deep well.

The local authorities and police swiftly arrived at the scene, recognizing the severity of the situation. They immediately launched a rescue operation, utilizing JCB and Poklen machines to extract the trapped laborers. The news of this incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, and there is deep concern for the safety and well-being of the workers. The rescue efforts are being closely monitored as authorities tirelessly work to ensure the safe recovery of those buried.

Four workers, namely Somnath Laxman Gaikwad (32), Javed Akbar Mulani (30), Parashuram Bansilal Chavan (30), and Manoj Maruti Chavan (40), were engaged in the ringing work of a well when a devastating incident occurred. Suddenly, the ring and a large pile of dirt collapsed, trapping all four individuals underneath. Concern arose when they did not return home as usual in the evening, prompting a search by the villagers.

Near the well, they discovered the workers’ bikes, but the workers themselves were nowhere to be found. Fearing the worst, the villagers suspected that the four had been trapped under the debris. In response, a rescue effort commenced with the aid of JCB and Poklen machines to clear away the rubble.

Tehsildar Srikant Patil of Indapur and Assistant Police Inspector Dilip Pawar from Bhigwan Police Station were actively involved in providing assistance at the site. Additionally, Sachin Sapkal, a member of the District Planning Committee, along with numerous youths, selflessly aided in the rescue efforts throughout the night.

Indapur MLA Dattatreya Bharne arrived early in the morning, and the rescue operation is now underway with the support of NDRF jawans, striving to bring the trapped workers to safety. The incident has stirred deep concern in the community, and the collective efforts of the authorities and locals exemplify the commitment to saving precious lives.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks that workers face in hazardous construction environments and highlights the importance of stringent safety measures.
