Heartbreak struck a family in Gajraula, Amroha, on Sunday night when their newborn, just 23 days old, tragically lost his life while sleeping between his parents. What was meant to be a peaceful night turned into an unimaginable tragedy as, during the night, the baby got accidentally crushed when one of the parents turned in their sleep, leading to suffocation. The next morning, the mother discovered her lifeless child and screamed in shock, alerting the rest of the family.

The couple rushed the infant to the local community health center, but despite immediate medical attention, doctors declared the baby dead. This was the couple’s first child after four years of marriage, turning their home from a place of joy into grief within just a few weeks. In the hospital, tension rose as the parents began blaming each other for the incident, a dispute that relatives struggled to calm.

Residents of Sihali Jagir village, where the incident occurred, were left in deep sorrow. Many called the event a cruel twist of fate, expressing their sympathy and heartbreak for the grieving family. Since the tragedy, the parents have been inconsolable, with the mother repeatedly breaking down while looking at her baby’s clothes and toys.

According to reports, the tragic incident took place late Sunday evening when the couple had placed the baby to sleep between them. Around 8 a.m., when the mother awoke, she realized the baby was unresponsive. Despite frantic attempts to revive the child, there was no movement, and the couple immediately took him to the health center, where Dr. Yogendra Singh confirmed the death.

The CHC in-charge noted that preliminary findings pointed to suffocation as the cause of death. Since no formal complaint was filed by the family, no legal action has been initiated. The loss has left the village in a somber silence. Returning home, the parents were seen mourning deeply, questioning themselves and fate over how their first child was taken from them so soon.
