The duo, aboard the Sampark Kranti Superfast Express, were arrested on Thursday night after they lit a bonfire inside a general train compartment using cow dung cakes they carried in their luggage.

The nearest RPF base at Aligarh was contacted and the duo were deboarded at an unscheduled stop where they were held.

During a journey from Assam to Delhi, passengers Chandana and Devendra, traveling in a general compartment, reportedly felt cold and took the unusual step of lighting a bonfire inside the train.

The duo used cow dung cakes they were carrying to set up the makeshift fire. Upon being apprehended by officials of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Chandana and Devendra explained that their intention was solely to ward off the cold.

RPF officials inside the train noticed smoke emanating from the compartment, leading to the discovery of this unconventional attempt to stay warm amidst the journey.

They questioned passengers in the compartment upon which it was revealed that Chandan and Devendra had lighted the fire.

The nearest RPF base at Aligarh was contacted, and the duo were deboarded at an unscheduled stop where they were held. They have been charged under relevant sections of the IPC and Railway Act and sent to jail.

Over a dozen other passengers were also detained regarding the incident but were later let off.
