In a bid to streamline the process of obtaining work permits and residency visas, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched the ‘Work Bundle’ platform, promising faster and smoother visa processing for employers and employees alike.

Key Features of the ‘Work Bundle’:

1. Reduced Processing Time: The ‘Work Bundle’ aims to significantly cut down the processing time for work permits and residency visas. Previously taking up to 30 days, the new system endeavours to complete the entire process in just five working days.

2. Streamlined Process: With the ‘Work Bundle,’ the cumbersome process of obtaining work permits and visas is streamlined, reducing the number of steps from 15 to just 5. This simplification translates to less running around and waiting for approvals.

3. Minimal Paperwork: The number of required documents is reduced from 16 to only 5, alleviating the burden of paperwork for both employers and employees and saving valuable time.

4. Fewer Visits: Applicants previously had to make multiple visits to visa centres, sometimes up to seven times. However, with the ‘Work Bundle,’ the process can be completed with just two visits, reducing inconvenience.

“The ‘Work Bundle’ aligns with the ‘Zero Bureaucracy’ programme aimed at simplifying government procedures and providing proactive services. The first phase will be implemented in Dubai through the ‘Invest in Dubai’ platform and will be gradually expanded to include other government digital platforms,” the UAE government posted on X.

Toward Zero Bureaucracy:

At the core of the ‘Work Bundle’ initiative is the UAE government’s ‘Zero Bureaucracy’ program. This program aims to streamline government procedures, eliminate unnecessary red tape, and enhance efficiency within the bureaucratic framework.

The ‘Work Bundle’ introduces a unified platform that consolidates various procedures, including renewals, cancellations, medical examinations, and fingerprinting, into a single accessible platform. This consolidation simplifies the process for private sector companies, fostering efficiency and flexibility.

Enhancing competitiveness:

In addition to simplifying procedures, the ‘Work Bundle’ significantly enhances the UAE’s competitiveness in the global business landscape and ease-of-doing-business rankings. By reducing the procedural complexity and consolidating services into a single platform, the initiative improves efficiency and user-friendliness, making the UAE an even more attractive destination for global talent.

Overall, the introduction of the ‘Work Bundle’ marks a significant step towards enhancing the UAE’s business environment and facilitating the smooth entry of skilled professionals into the country’s workforce.
