Maharashtra Weather Alert

Pune, March 17, 2026: After witnessing an early March heatwave, Maharashtra is now bracing for a spell of unseasonal rain, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for 24 districts on March 18. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected across several regions in the state over the next 24 hours.

Konkan Region

Weather conditions in Mumbai, Thane, Sindhudurg, and Palghar are likely to remain hot and humid. However, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts are under a yellow alert for unseasonal rain, with thunderstorms and lightning predicted.
Mumbai is expected to record maximum temperatures between 32°C and 36°C and minimum temperatures of 24°C to 27°C, with high humidity levels intensifying discomfort.

Western Maharashtra

Districts including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are under a yellow alert, with rainfall expected along with gusty winds of 30–40 km/h.
Pune is likely to experience temperatures ranging between 33°C to 36°C (max) and 18°C to 21°C (min).

North Maharashtra

Light rainfall is expected in Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar. Ahilyanagar has been placed under a yellow alert for unseasonal rain.
Nashik may record temperatures between 32°C to 35°C (max) and 19°C to 22°C (min).

Marathwada Region

All districts in Marathwada are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Yellow alerts have been issued for Nanded, Parbhani, Dharashiv, Hingoli, Beed, and Latur.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to see maximum temperatures between 33°C and 36°C.

Vidarbha Region

Districts including Nagpur, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, and Wardha are under a yellow alert, with forecasts of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Nagpur temperatures are expected to range between 34°C to 38°C (max) and 21°C to 24°C (min).

Advisory for Citizens and Farmers

The IMD has warned of unseasonal rainfall across Maharashtra on March 18, urging farmers to take precautions to protect standing and harvested crops. Citizens are also advised to remain cautious and take necessary health precautions amid changing weather conditions.
