The icon will inaugurate an open air theatre for the holistic development of students

Renowned tabla player, composer, percussionist, music producer and film actor Ustad Zakir Hussain will visit SNBP International School at Rahatani on January 11, 2023 to inaugurate the open-air theatre inside the campus.  The veteran musician is visiting Pimpri Chinchwad for the first time.

“SNBP school has constructed an open-air theatre for the holistic development of students. We feel blessed that the percussion legend has agreed to come to our campus for the inauguration,” said Dr D K Bhosale, chairman, SNBP group.

Expressing happiness about the icon’s visit to the school, Jayshree Venkatraman, principal, said, “Every aspect of Ustadji is inspiring. His humility, his openness to learn, his ability to connect and his iconic identity. He was born with a legacy but he didn’t stop, he learned and contributed to the legacy. This will be a message to Gen Z that one must continue to learn. Zakir Hussain was born famous as he is the son of Ustad Atah Rakra, a renowned tabla player. Quite naturally, he was inclined towards tabla from a very young age. When Zakir was a child, he performed at concerts.  In his early twenties, he started touring in different countries frequently and performed in not less than 150 concerts per year. He has popularized Tabla across the Universe, his biography reflects an amazing mix of talent, focused hand work and an ability to adapt.”

There is a general belief that classical music is not appreciated so well by the young generation but expressing her views, Jayshree Venkatraman said that his music has a universal appeal across generations.
