Viral Resignation: “Targets Keep Increasing, But Salary Doesn’t” — Employee’s Letter Sparks Debate, Company Responds
A resignation letter from an employee has gone viral online after he quit his job out of frustration with his boss and company policies. The story has struck a chord with many young professionals who relate to the growing workplace stress and lack of fair pay.
For most young people today, a job isn’t just a career — it’s a lifeline that supports their families. But when the work environment turns toxic, it can take a serious toll on mental health. That’s exactly what happened in this case.
A construction company named JAY Decor shared the viral resignation letter on Instagram, where it has over a lakh followers. The employee, identified as AC Minza, wrote bluntly:
“Sir, I am resigning because in this company, only targets increase, not the salary. I work hard, I don’t do magic.”
The letter even bore the company’s official stamp.

In its Instagram caption, the company wrote, “We received this resignation letter today. We suspect it might have been written as a joke and posted online, since it appears to be written on a diary page instead of plain paper — and resignations are usually submitted on paper or via email. We can’t verify its authenticity.”
Despite that, the post quickly went viral, gathering over 20,000 likes and hundreds of comments within hours. Many users supported the employee, saying, “He’s absolutely right. If salaries don’t increase, why should targets?” Others echoed similar sentiments, pointing out that “raising targets without increments is meaningless.”
While the company treated the post lightly, the letter has brought forward a harsh reality — the growing pressure on employees who are often expected to deliver more without fair compensation. Many say this reflects a larger problem where workers feel like machines rather than people.
The viral incident has sparked a wider discussion on workplace stress, with people urging companies to value their employees’ efforts and mental health before setting higher targets.
