PUNE: A viral video highlighting an auto-rickshaw driver’s aggressive behavior towards a young woman has raised fresh concerns about passenger safety in Pune. The incident took place on January 31, 2025, when the woman was waiting for her pre-booked Uber.

According to reports, the auto driver approached her, demanding Rs 200 instead of the app’s fare of Rs 160. When she refused, he became hostile, blocked her from entering the cab, banged on the window, and threatened her, saying, “I’ll deal with you in Kharadi.” The confrontation was captured on video, which quickly spread across social media, triggering public outrage.

This incident reflects a growing trend of auto drivers harassing passengers, particularly those using ride-hailing services like Uber. Several cases have been reported where groups of auto drivers disrupt prepaid cab services and pressure commuters into paying inflated fares.
