According to BCCI sources, former India captain Virat Kohli, who was in South Africa with the country’s Test team, returned home due to a family emergency.

The renowned batter is anticipated to arrive back in South Africa, though, in time for the first Test against the hosts, which gets underway on December 26.

As a member of the Indian team that will play in the two-Test series starting on December 26, Kohli traveled to South Africa. Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma had chosen not to participate in the tour’s white-ball leg.

Virat Kohli has returned to India because of a family emergency, according to a BCCI source. However, he will return before the first Test begins.

Furthermore, due to a finger fracture, batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will miss the two-Test series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the two-Test series due to a ring finger fracture, according to the BCCI source.

Earlier this week, in the second ODI against South Africa, Gaikwad hurt his finger trying to take a catch.
