Wakad boy wins 2 Gold medals in Karate championship in Kolkata

Samarth Hegde, a boy from Wakad, won 2 gold medals (Kata and Kumite) in the Karate Mahotsav National Championship held in Howrah on January 7, 2024.

Laxmish Hegde, father of Samarth, expressed his feelings by stating, “We as parents really feel proud to see Samarth starting 2024 with great achievements by winning two gold medals in Kata and Kumite. He and his coaches have worked really hard with him and hope they continue to work together to take this to the next level. It’s also a pleasure to see all other champions from Pune doing so well.”

As per information shared by Laxmish Hegde, Karate students from Maharashtra shine in the Karate Mahotsav National Championship Season 1 held in Kolkata on January 7 2024.

Under the guidance of Shihan Ashok Vetal who, along with his coaching unit including Tej Pratap, and Hemant Kumawat, Vaishnav bagged 10+ gold medals in Kata and Kumite. Tej, Hemant and Vaishnav participated in the event and secured Gold medals in Kata and Kumite. Along with the coaching staff, 15+ champions from Pune representing Maharashtra, won 10+ Gold, 5+ Silver and 5+ Bronze in the national event. This truly demonstrates the hard work and efforts put in by coaches and students to excel and bring the glory back home.

Name of the students who won medals are Samarth Hegde, Devyanshi Sahu, Priyani Jakhotiya, Kanak Deshpande, Yuvan Puri, Parineeti Shedge, Debangana Saha, Niloy Pathak, and Arbaz Khan.

Laxmish Hegde wished all of them great success for the future.
