Pune Shivers As Mercury Drops To 6.9°C, Coldest Night Of The Season So Far
Pune, January 2, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for parts of Maharashtra, warning of unseasonal rainfall in Vidarbha and Marathwada, while most other regions are expected to remain largely dry over the next few days.
According to the IMD forecast for January 3, 2026, weather conditions across Maharashtra will be mainly dry to partly cloudy. After unseasonal rain lashed Mumbai and parts of the Konkan region on January 1, the weather has begun to stabilise. However, light to moderate unseasonal rainfall is likely in select districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada.
Cold conditions are expected to continue across the state, especially during early mornings and nights, with minimum temperatures likely to remain below normal. In the Konkan region, including Mumbai and its suburbs, skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear, with no rain expected. Maximum temperatures are likely to range between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may hover between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius.
In western Maharashtra, including Pune, cloudy conditions and morning fog are expected, with a slight chance of light showers in isolated areas. Marathwada districts such as Beed, Latur, Nanded and Jalna may witness light to moderate rain and possible hailstorms. Vidarbha is also likely to see cold weather, foggy mornings and isolated light rainfall.
The IMD has advised farmers to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops, as fluctuating temperatures and unseasonal rain may impact agriculture.
