Mumbai | November 30: A cold wave has begun sweeping across Maharashtra as minimum temperatures in many parts of the state have fallen below 15 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). With the cloud cover clearing over most regions, the chill has intensified, prompting the weather department to issue an alert and advise citizens to take precautions against cold-related illnesses.

In Mumbai and its suburbs, residents are likely to experience morning mist or light fog, followed by clear skies during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32°C, while the minimum may settle near 23°C. Similar weather conditions are forecast for other coastal districts in the Konkan region.

Pune, Western Maharashtra See Sharp Dip

Western Maharashtra has witnessed a notable drop in temperatures. In Pune, the minimum temperature is likely to fall to around 13°C on November 30. Kolhapur may see cloudy conditions in the morning, clearing by afternoon, with the minimum temperature expected near 15°C.

Fog Alert for North Maharashtra

Dense fog is predicted across parts of North Maharashtra during morning hours, which could reduce visibility and impact travel. Daytime skies are likely to remain clear. Jalgaon is expected to record a minimum of 14°C, while other districts may hover around 15°C.

Marathwada Braces for Colder Nights

Cold conditions have intensified in Marathwada as well. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar may record a minimum temperature close to 13°C, while Nanded is likely to remain partly cloudy with similarly cool conditions. The IMD says temperatures could drop further in the coming days.

Vidarbha: Cool Days, Chilly Nights

Vidarbha will experience partly cloudy skies with fog in some areas, along with a rise in chill. Nagpur’s maximum temperature is expected near 28°C, while the minimum could dip to 13°C. Other districts in the region are likely to see comparable conditions.

Advisory for Citizens

Authorities have urged residents across Maharashtra to take care of their health as the cold intensifies. The IMD recommends wearing warm clothing, avoiding early-morning exposure where fog is dense, and staying hydrated during fluctuating daytime temperatures.
