Weather Chaos in Maharashtra: Sudden Warmth and Cold Spells Cause Concern
A low-pressure belt extending from northwest Uttar Pradesh to Rajasthan has led to rapid weather changes across Maharashtra. Temperatures are fluctuating significantly, affecting both agriculture and public health.
In Mumbai and its suburbs, winter seems to have vanished, with rising temperatures and high humidity causing discomfort. Residents are struggling with sultry conditions. Areas like Thane, Panvel, and Raigad are experiencing cool mornings followed by hot days.
In northern and western Maharashtra, night temperatures have dropped significantly, with regions like Dhule and Niphad recording lows below 9°C. The chill is expected to persist for two more days, while daytime temperatures may rise by 3-4°C.
The weather department has predicted temperature fluctuations across the state over the next two days. Many areas are witnessing dense fog till late morning. Brahmapuri, Ratnagiri, Dahanu, and Santacruz have recorded the highest temperatures in the state, ranging between 30°C and 35°C. These unusual January highs have raised concerns about the upcoming summer heat.
Meanwhile, Marathwada is also experiencing a sharp drop in minimum temperatures, with an intense cold wave gripping the region.
Farmers and citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to cope with these changing weather conditions.
