Weather Update: Severe Heat Wave Sweeps Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat
A severe heatwave has gripped several districts of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, with temperatures soaring above 40°C in multiple cities. Brahmapuri in Maharashtra recorded the highest temperature at 42°C, while many other locations in the three states surpassed 40-41°C.
For the second consecutive day, 17 cities across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan recorded maximum temperatures above 40°C. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a slight drop in temperatures in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and parts of the Konkan coast from Thursday, the heatwave is expected to persist. Vidarbha in Maharashtra is under a heatwave alert until March 14, Odisha until March 16, and Jharkhand and West Bengal until March 18. Madhya Pradesh is also likely to experience rising temperatures in the coming week.
In western India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and Rajasthan, a temperature drop of 2-3°C is expected over the next five days. However, central India, including Chhattisgarh, may see a rise of 2°C over the next three days before stabilizing. Meanwhile, eastern states such as Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha could witness a temperature surge of up to 5°C.
Additionally, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar may experience strong winds and dust storms in the coming week.
