Yet another medical horror, this time from Delhi, teenagers shoot doctor dead
A troubling incident has occurred in Delhi, where two teenagers entered a hospital, received medical care, and later attacked a doctor with gunfire. This event adds to the growing concerns regarding safety in medical facilities in the city.
“Delhi has become crime capital – Gangsters operating with ease, extortion calls and firings and daily murders. Central Govt & @LtGovDelhi have failed in their basic work for Delhi,” says Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj.
It is deeply concerning that this incident has occurred less than two months after the tragic event in Kolkata, where a doctor on the night shift was both raped and murdered at a government hospital.
Hospital personnel have informed law enforcement that the suspects are likely aged between 16 and 17.
According to staff reports, two teenagers arrived at Nima Hospital late at night. One of them requested a dressing change for an injured toe that had been treated the previous evening.
After the dressing was completed, the teenagers sought a prescription and proceeded to the office of Dr. Javed Akhtar, a practitioner of Unani Medicine.
Shortly thereafter, nursing staff members Gajala Parveen and Md Kamil were alerted by the sound of a gunshot. They rushed to the doctor’s office, where they found him with a head injury and bleeding.
Authorities have indicated that this incident appears to be a targeted homicide, suggesting that the assailants may have scouted the area the night before to plan their actions.
The doctor has been identified as Javed Akhtar and has been practicing Unani in a nursing home in Kalindi Kunj, Delhi.
The recent shooting event at a hospital in Delhi has offered the ruling Aam Aadmi Party an opportunity to voice its criticisms of the Central government and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena concerning the current law and order situation in the national capital.
