Pune: A youth from Tavshi (Taluka Indapur) gave false information about three people being swept away in Neera river floods on October 2 (Monday) to the police.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vikram Salunkhe, Assistant Police Inspector, Walchandnagar Police Station said, “A person had called 112 on Monday at 5:45 pm and gave false information that three people swept away in the Neera river flood. As soon as we received the information, we immediately rushed to the spot. However, the river was not flooding at all & there were no bodies found or no one was drowning or even inside the river.”

As per further information by Vikram Salunkhe, after the police questioned the individual who gave the information about this, he shouted and answered incoherently. When he was medically examined by the police, it was found that he had consumed alcohol.

In this regard, Walchandnagar police have registered a case against the individual under Sections 177 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 85 (1) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The Walchandnagar police have let off the accused with a warning.
