YouTube experienced a major outage on Tuesday, leaving thousands of users across the world struggling to access videos. Users reported problems loading content on both the mobile app and the website, with streaming disruptions affecting several regions.

According to outage tracking platform DownDetector, users in countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and India were impacted. At the peak of the disruption, over 2.4 lakh complaints were logged in the US, while India recorded around 17,000 reports.

DownDetector data shows that nearly 56 percent of users faced problems using the YouTube app, while 17 percent were unable to access the website. Around 15 percent reported login-related issues. Many users complained of video playback failures, account access problems, and interruptions in YouTube TV streaming.

Several online reports suggested the outage may have been caused by a backend server configuration error. However, YouTube has not yet released an official explanation or detailed statement regarding the issue.

User reactions online

Users took to social media platform X to share their frustration and confirm the outage. One user wrote, “YouTube is down worldwide. Many users can’t open the app or play videos. Looks like a temporary server issue. Hope it gets fixed soon.”

Another post read, “Whenever YouTube goes down, everyone rushes to Twitter to find out what’s happening. YouTube crashes, and Twitter turns into the investigation center.”

Services were gradually restored, though some users continued to report intermittent issues.
