A Zomato delivery man in Delhi found himself in a distressing situation as his account was allegedly blocked by the food delivery giant just days before his sister’s wedding.

The incident came to light when an X user, Soham Bhattacharya, encountered the delivery man in GTB Nagar and shared his emotional story, which has since gone viral.

This guy's sister's wedding is in few days & @zomato @zomatocare blocked his account! He was sobbing like anything near GTB Nagar, going to everyone and asking for some money. He told me he didn't eat anything saving it all for her wedding

According to Soham’s post on March 28, the Zomato delivery partner was visibly distraught and tearful as he explained his predicament. He claimed that Zomato had blocked his account, leaving him in a financial crisis ahead of his sister’s wedding. The delivery man, who had been saving every penny for the wedding expenses, had resorted to asking for money from passersby in GTB Nagar.

Soham’s post, accompanied by a photo of the distressed delivery partner, quickly gained traction online, garnering nearly 3 Million views. It caught the attention of both social media users and Zomato itself.

We deeply value our delivery partners, and we understand the impact that actions like blocking an ID can have. Rest assured, we take such matters seriously. We assure you, we'll look into this. Our delivery partners are as important to us as our customers.

Responding to Soham’s post, the official X account of Zomato Care acknowledged the severity of the situation and assured that they would investigate the matter earnestly.

In an effort to assist the delivery partner, Soham shared a QR code in the comments section, urging his followers to extend their support. Many social media users expressed empathy for the delivery man and offered monetary aid to alleviate his immediate financial burden.

Soham also mentioned in his post that the delivery man had resorted to working for Rapido, a bike taxi service, after his Zomato account was blocked, emphasizing the urgency of his financial situation.

Pune Traders Oppose Additional 1% User Charge on Agricultural Market Transactions, Demand Withdrawal of Circular

Pune, June 3: Traders' organizations across Maharashtra have expressed strong dissatisfaction over the circular imposing an additional 1% user charge on transactions in the grain and agricultural produce markets under the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).

Speaking on the issue, Saurabh Shekhar Kunjir, President of the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard Adte Association, Pune, said that the new levy has triggered concern among traders and market stakeholders across the state. He urged the government to reconsider the decision and withdraw the circular.

The Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard Adte Association has also extended its support to the Poona Merchant Chamber Association ian opposing the additional user charge. Traders believe that the extra financial burden could adversely affect market operations and increase costs for stakeholders involved in agricultural produce trading.

The associations have appealed to the state government to review the policy and take a decision that safeguards the interests of traders and the agricultural marketing sector.
