Pune: The Mandolin, an instrument originally from Italy, has made a special home in the hearts of Indian music lovers through Indian film songs.

But mandolin players are very few in India and their number is decreasing day by day. Hence, to promote and spread this mandolin instrument, through a club called Mandolin Lovers, amateur players organized the 7th Mandolin Festival.

As per information shared by Chetan Deshpande, Committee Member, Mandolin Lovers Club, the mandolin festival was organized on November 29 at the President Hotel on Karve Road in Pune. More than 40 mandolin players from different parts of the country including Pune participated in this festival. A famous mandolin player in Indian cinema Tapas Roy guided the mandolin players present. The festival was supported by Metaphor Alloys and Kubera Money Base Financial Services.

Tapas Roy said that Mandolin is a very beautiful instrument. This instrument has been played in many popular songs from films. But the number of musicians playing this instrument is getting less. Many people don’t know the mandolin. So those who can play a musical instrument should spread their music to people through social media.

Chetan Deshpande said that every year, mandolin lovers/players come from all over the country for this event. This year, more than 40 artists from across the country presented their unique art by playing the mandolin instrument.

Some popular songs such as London Thumakda from the Bollywood Movie Queen, and songs from fan favourite Bollywood movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Bajirao Mastani, etc were played at the event.
