In Pune, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray criticized the chaotic political landscape in Maharashtra, likening it to the Indian Premier League (IPL) where “nobody knows who is playing for whom.” Thackeray highlighted the need to cleanse the political “mess” and warned that re-electing the same leaders will only reinforce their belief that they’re on the right track. He urged voters to give MNS a chance to bring change.

Thackeray was addressing a rally in support of Hadapsar Assembly candidate Sainath Babar, with attendees Avinash Abhyankar, Ranjit Shirole, and Anil Shidore. He stressed that Maharashtra needs holistic development aligned with people’s needs, criticizing Pune’s unplanned expansion and traffic congestion. Thackeray emphasized that MNS is the only party with a genuine developmental vision, asserting, “I’m not after the Chief Minister’s position. I want to restore Maharashtra’s past glory under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals. Youth must focus on Maharashtra’s welfare.”

Touching on caste-based politics, Thackeray lamented the division sown after the Nationalist Congress Party’s formation, contrary to Shivaji Maharaj’s inclusive legacy. Additionally, he raised concerns over inadequate employment, healthcare, and educational facilities and called on voters to support those genuinely fighting for the public’s needs.

Hadapsar candidate Babar assured that, if elected, he would tackle essential issues, including creating facilities for Warkaris on the pilgrimage route and securing better civic infrastructure in integrated villages.

Key Points from the speech by Raj Thacekray for Hadapsar Assembly Candidate Sainath Babar in Hadapsar yesterday.

  1. Traffic Issues Post-Corporation Inclusion: Since Hadapsar constituency was created in 2009 and local villages were incorporated into the corporation, the area has faced severe traffic congestion. Many residents regret this move, feeling that village life was better. The growing traffic and congestion have created a sense of fear among women and children, and instead of addressing these fundamental issues, people are being distracted by irrelevant problems.
  2. Caste-Based Politics: The distortion of Maharashtra’s politics through caste divisions is damaging. The focus has shifted to caste-based divisions, aiming to influence votes rather than addressing real issues.
  3. A Tragic Incident in Marathwada: In a Marathwada village, a family could not find anyone to help carry the body of a deceased relative. People from another caste watched without assisting, showing how deeply caste divisions have affected humanity. This toxic division was sown after the formation of the NCP under Sharad Pawar.
  4. Segregation of Historical Figures by Caste: Maharashtra’s revered figures are now being viewed through a caste lens. Historically, there was mutual respect across communities. However, the discovery of extremists from groups like SIMI and ISIS in local neighborhoods raises concerns about those still undetected.
  5. City Issues Ignored: Urban areas face rampant issues like unemployment, lack of affordable housing, and insufficient healthcare facilities. Rather than addressing these, politicians are fixating on caste-based divisions.
  6. Quick Action By Sainath Babar: During a time when there was an attempt to disrespect the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, only Mr. Sainath protested on the streets. The incumbent leaders were absent. Wouldn’t you want a leader like Sainath, who stands up for you?
  7. Old City Charm vs. Modern Development: While older residents in Pune, Mumbai, and Thane prefer the charm of their cities before urban development, in places like Dubai, the city has been thoughtfully developed based on people’s needs.
  8. Promises for Meaningful Progress: Babar is not promising a complete overhaul in five years but assures that his work will be so substantial that people will want to re-elect him for further progress.
  9. MNS as a Unique Party with a Development Plan: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is the only party in the country with a true development plan for the state. His only ambition is to restore the past glory of Maharashtra.
  10. Media’s Lack of Focus on Development: Babar expressed frustration with journalists who only ask about political disputes, never about state development. He urges voters to remember Maharashtra’s proud history and not let it become a trivial state.
  11. Request for Support for MNS Candidates: Babar appeals for a chance, asking voters to elect not only him but all MNS candidates across constituencies, as he cannot reach every voter personally. He urges voters to ensure a resounding victory for the MNS candidates.
