SRK's Daughter Suhana Khan’s ₹12.91 Cr Alibaug Land Deal Under Scrutiny
Authorities question legality of purchase; probe ordered into farmland ownership and permissions
Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has landed in legal trouble over her recent land purchase in Alibaug. The 24-year-old is under scrutiny for acquiring a 1.5-acre plot in Thal village for ₹12.91 crore in May 2023, with authorities investigating whether the transaction violated Maharashtra’s strict agricultural land laws.
According to reports, the land was originally allocated by the government for farming purposes and inherited by three sisters — Anjali, Rekha, and Priya — from whom Suhana purchased it. Officials are now probing whether the land, classified as agricultural, was legally transferable to her.
The crux of the issue lies in Maharashtra’s land regulations, which prohibit non-farmers from purchasing agricultural property without prior government clearance. Registration documents reportedly listed Suhana as a “farmer,” raising questions about compliance.
Suhana is said to have paid a stamp duty of ₹77.46 lakh during the transaction, and the property was registered under Deja Vu Farm Pvt. Ltd., a company reportedly linked to the Khan family. Authorities have asked the Alibaug Tehsildar to submit an impartial report to verify documentation, land classification, and permissions granted.
This is not the first time the Khan family’s Alibaug properties have drawn official attention. In 2018, an income-tax investigation was launched into a farmhouse tied to a company associated with the family.
The outcome of the current inquiry will determine whether Suhana’s purchase stands legally valid or faces cancellation. Notably, this was her first land acquisition in Alibaug, followed by another beachfront property worth ₹10 crore within the same year.
