The leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party met the commissioner of Pune municipal corporation Vikram Kumar recently and apprised him of severe water logging that had brought the traffic to a halt in many places. This highlighted that pre-monsoon clean up done in the month of May and June was not done properly, they said.

BJP Pune city president Jagdish Mulik in his letter given to the commissioner stated that the work done before the monsoon began was a half-baked job. The nalas are choked up, storm water lines are not cleaned, resurfaced roads have become crater size potholes and lack of disaster management has resulted in traffic jams due to water logging in many areas, he said.

Mulik informed that keeping in mind the increasing rainfall, disaster management must be done at the ward level. There is need for coordination among PMC, PMPML, Pune Police and Smart City Mission, which is not seen, he said. Proper planning of chronic water logging areas, potholes on the road, big nalas, machinery required must all be taken care of, he added.
The meeting was attended by vice president Varsha Tapkir, general secretary Ganesh Ghosh, vice president Ganesh Kalamkar, former deputy mayor Saraswati Shendge, Sushil Megde and many former corporators.
