Pune: 49-Year-Old Arrested By Kondhwa Police For Molesting Woman In Crowded PMPML Bus
Pune, December 10, 2025: Kondhwa Police have arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly molesting a woman by taking advantage of heavy crowding inside a PMPML bus travelling from Yewalewadi to Pune Station.
The incident occurred between Samtanagar and Lullanagar Chowk, where the accused allegedly misbehaved with the woman. Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint at Kondhwa Police Station under IPC Section 354.
Recognising the seriousness of the case, Senior Police Inspector Kumar Ghadge and Police Inspector (Crime) Navnath Jagtap directed a dedicated investigation team to trace the unidentified suspect. Since the accused was not known to the victim and had acted in a crowded public bus, identifying him posed a challenge.
Investigating officers reviewed CCTV footage from the PMPML bus and shortlisted photos of all passengers who travelled during the time of the incident. The victim was then shown these images, enabling her to identify the suspect.
Further CCTV tracing revealed the route taken by the accused, after which police personnel Prashant Khade and Shahid Rajput followed leads and shared the suspect’s photograph with informers. They learned that the man lived near Sky Heights building behind D-Mart on Punyadham Ashram Road in Somji Chowk, Kondhwa Budruk, and was known to frequently purchase alcohol from Wadkar Wines.
The team closely monitored the area for seven consecutive days. On December 7, 2025, the accused arrived at Wadkar Wines to buy alcohol, where police detained him. He was identified as Salim Hazrat Madki, age 49, a resident of Punyadham Ashram Road. During questioning, he confessed to the offence and was subsequently arrested.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr Rajkumar Shinde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wanwadi Division) Namrata Desai.
The investigation team included API Rakesh Jadhav, API Afroz Pathan, and police personnel Prashant Khade, Shahid Rajput, Pushpendra Chavan, Rahul Shelar, Suhas More, Keshav Hirve, and Rashid Shaikh.
