What began as a heated argument at home unexpectedly turned into a security scare at one of Pune’s most sensitive locations. A 25-year-old man allegedly scaled the boundary wall of the Indian Air Force–controlled Lohegaon Airport while trying to flee his wife after a domestic dispute, prompting swift action from security agencies and the police.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, January 22, and involved Suraj Avinash Jadhav, a labourer living in Phule Nagar, Yerawada. According to police officials, Jadhav ran from his home following an argument with his wife and, in an apparent attempt to escape, climbed over the perimeter wall of the Air Force Station before jumping into the restricted compound.

Security personnel stationed at the base immediately intercepted him. Following standard protocol, he was questioned by officials from multiple agencies. During the inquiry, it was found that Jadhav had injured his left foot while jumping into the high-security area. He was subsequently taken to the Air Force Hospital at Lohegaon, where he was admitted for treatment.

Based on a complaint filed by a Junior Warrant Officer posted at the Air Force Station, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Vimantal police station. The case has been filed under charges of criminal trespass, as entry into the Lohegaon Airport premises without authorisation is strictly prohibited.

Assistant Inspector Sapna Devtale from Vimantal police station explained that initial findings clearly pointed to a domestic dispute as the trigger for the incident. She stated that the man appeared to be running away after the altercation when he came across the Air Force base wall, climbed it, and landed inside the compound, leading to his arrest for trespassing.

Senior Inspector Govind Jadhav of the Airport police confirmed that the incident took place in the afternoon hours. He noted that the man fractured his leg after jumping into the restricted zone and had to be hospitalised within the Lohegaon Air Force facility. He reiterated that unauthorised entry into the airport, which is under Indian Air Force control, is a punishable offence.

Officials from the Vimantal police station further stated that Air Force authorities, along with other security agencies and local police, responded without delay once the breach was detected. After thorough checks, investigators found no indication of any threat or suspicious activity linked to the security of the base.

While the situation briefly raised concerns due to the sensitive nature of the location, authorities clarified that the matter stemmed solely from a personal dispute and that the overall security apparatus remained uncompromised.
