Pune News: Underground Mandai to Civil Court Metro Stretch Set to Operate Before Maharashtra Assembly Elections
The underground Mandai to Civil Court metro stretch is poised to begin operations before the announcement of the state assembly elections later this year, with the administration gearing up to finalize all necessary works accordingly. This milestone will mark the completion of both the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi metro corridors, constituting the first phase of the metro project, before the elections.
Progress on the underground metro between Swargate and Mandai is currently underway, with Maha-Metro aiming to wrap up all activities by August-end. Subsequently, the organization will seek approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) to commence commercial operations. The CMRS is expected to conduct inspections and grant approval within two to three weeks.
With the completion timeline set for August-end, operations are likely to commence in September, well before the anticipated announcement of the model code of conduct for the Maharashtra assembly elections, expected in October. Ahead of this, Maha-Metro will be poised to initiate commercial operations for the first phase of the metro project.
Simultaneously, groundwork is underway for the extended Swargate to Katraj route, with Maha-Metro actively preparing for this expansion.
The impending commencement of metro operations promises to significantly enhance public transportation infrastructure in the region, providing commuters with faster, more efficient travel options. As the metro project progresses towards completion, residents eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on alleviating traffic congestion and improving connectivity across Pune and its neighboring areas.
