Pune: Action taken by officials to remove illegal hoardings is a farce said former leader of opposition Nana Kate as there is an increase in the number of incidents that have happened due to numerous illegal hoardings in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation areas. In order to tackle this has demanded that Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh should conduct an in-depth inquiry and the report should be presented to the public.

It is worthy to note that accidents due to the collapse of illegal hoardings are on the rise in which many people have lost their lives.

Kate said in a statement, “Detailed information on legal and illegal hoardings, structural auditing of advertising hoardings should be done.  Recently, due to unseasonal rain in Pimpri Chinchwad, a hoarding incident occurred in Kiwale in which 5 people lost their lives.  Similarly, 4 days ago, another hoarding accident happened in the Hinjewadi area. Therefore, the problem of unauthorized hoarding in the city is on the rise.”

He further added, “In many areas, the action taken by the municipal officials is a farce. Even today there are dangerous hoardings in many parts of the city.”

Many hoardings have been put up at the intersections of the city. While taking action, the hoarding driver is being helped by the municipal officer.

Kate has raised the question that when will the municipal corporation take action on this or will they play with the lives of the citizens. He also said many hoarding drivers have taken down the flex on their hoardings to prevent action. However, it is necessary to raise the bar of action against the municipal officials who play with the lives of ordinary citizens dying in hoarding incidents.
