Adulterated paneer seized from factory in Wanowrie

The Food and Drug Administration Office, Pune raided the premises of an unlicensed factory named Tiptop Dairy Products in Wanowrie and seized adulterated paneer (cottage cheese) and fake cheese.

The stock was confiscated and disposed off. When the factory was raided, it was found that 800 kg of fake paneer had been manufactured. It was found that 350 kg of skimmed milk powder and 270 kg of palmoline oil were stored to make this paneer. The samples of the products jave been taken for further investigation. 799 kg paneer worth Rs.1 lakh 67 thousand 790, 348 kg of skimmed milk powder worth Rs.1 lakh 21 thousand 800, 268 kg of RBD palmolein oil worth Rs. 39 thousand 664, total cost of Rs.3 lakh 29 thousand 254 have been confiscated. As paneer is a perishable commodity, the seized stock was destroyed on the spot. The samples have been sent to the laboratory for further examination and legal action will be taken as soon as the report is received.

The team consisting of Assistant Commissioner Balu Thakur, Food Safety Officer Nilesh Khose took the action. During the festive period, there is a possibility of cheating the consumers and selling low quality food items.

Sanjay Naragude, Joint Commissioner of Pune Division of Food and Drug Administration Office, Pune has appealed to the citizens to register a complaint on the toll-free number 1800222365. He said names of people informing shall be kept confidential.
