Air India passengers faced a troubling experience, but the airline has committed to providing compensation.

More than 100 passengers traveling to New Delhi on an Air India flight have been stuck in Phuket, Thailand, for over 80 hours due to multiple delays caused by technical issues, as reported by various posts from passengers on social media.

The flight carried a mix of elderly individuals and children. Shortly after, the aircraft was prepared for departure. Passengers reported being informed that it was the same plane, but that the issue had been resolved.

The plane took off, but approximately two and a half hours later, it returned to Phuket, where passengers were once again informed of a technical problem. Since that time, they have been stranded in Phuket.

Passengers reported that the flight was set to depart for Delhi on the night of November 16. However, airline representatives notified them of a six-hour delay caused by a technical issue.

After enduring a lengthy wait at the airport, the passengers were instructed to board the plane, only to be deboarded an hour later when the flight was ultimately canceled.

The flight path recorded by the tracking application FlightRadar illustrates the aircraft’s two-hour journey before it made its way back to Phuket.

“We will reimburse the passengers. Several passengers have been sent back. About 40 are still in Phuket, they will be sent back this evening.  On November 17, after the plane was flown, a technical issue emerged and we had to opt for an emergency landing,” informs the airline.

Meanwhile, Tata-owned Air India announced that it will launch non-stop flights from Delhi to Phuket, Thailand, starting December 15. This new service is part of the airline’s strategy to expand its operations in the Far East and Southeast Asia.
