Elon Musk, who held the title of the world’s richest person for nine consecutive months, has been surpassed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Musk’s net worth faced a significant decline as Tesla shares plummeted by approximately 7.2% on Monday.

This drop allowed Jeff Bezos to reclaim the top position on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. Currently, Bezos has a fortune of $200.3 billion, while Musk’s net worth is $197.7 billion.

The reversal marks the first time since 2021 that Bezos has claimed the title of the world’s wealthiest individual. The shift is attributed to Amazon’s rising stock value compared to Tesla’s declining shares.

The gap between Musk and Bezos, which was once as wide as $142 billion, has considerably narrowed. The recent setback in Tesla shares, along with a Delaware judge voiding Musk’s $55 billion pay package at

Tesla, is expected to further impact Musk’s net worth. Meanwhile, Bezos’s wealth primarily stems from his 9% stake in Amazon, making him the company’s largest shareholder.

Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Adani Group founders Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani have featured at 11th and 12th spots respectively with a net worth of $115 billion and $104 billion.
